Adding Custom Administrative Templates to the Central Store

  1. If you want to be able to configure other applications like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Office 2016, etc. You will need to search for the admx files online
    1. Google Chrome (https://dl.google.com/dl/edgedl/chrome/policy/policy_templates.zip)
    2. Mozilla Firefox (https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templates/releases/download/v1.7/policy_templates_v1.7.zip)
    3. Office 2016/2019/365 ProPlus (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49030)
  2. Install or extract the administrative template files to a folder.
  3. Copy all the administrative templates to C:\Windows\Sysvol\domain\policies\PolicyDefinitions overwrite files in the destination folder where needed. (This will not break any GPOs and if something doesn’t look right you can always re-copy all the files from C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions)
  4. Now when you edit a policy you will see the new settings, specifically in this case the Google Chrome settings
